DataScale has successfully completed the first stage of the project to develop an integration bus for Universal Bank

DataScale has completed a key stage of the project to create an integration bus (Enterprise Service Bus, ESB) at Universal Bank. The aim of the project is to create a centralised, reliable and scalable platform for standardised data exchange between all internal and external systems of the financial organisation.

The new integration bus is designed to solve one of the main challenges of the modern IT landscape of a large bank: ensuring effective and uninterrupted interaction between multiple disparate systems. This will enable AKB UNIVERSAL BANK to improve operational efficiency, accelerate the launch of new products and services on the market, and create a more flexible IT infrastructure.

As part of the project, DataScale specialists faced a set of tasks:

• Designing the architecture and API of the bus.

• Deploying the necessary infrastructure.

• Testing and adapting the bus to work with the first target system — IABS FIDO.

• Developing a specialised adapter for seamless connection of the bus to the FIDO API.

• Creating a foundation for easy connection of other bank systems to the bus in the future.

A phased approach and modern technologies

The project is being implemented in stages. The FIDO system was chosen as the first pilot connection. This approach made it possible to test all technological processes and architectural solutions on a specific example, while laying a solid foundation for the integration of new systems in the future.

The solution is based on proven and modern technologies that ensure high performance and fault tolerance: the Apache ActiveMQ Artemis message broker, the Kubernetes containerised application orchestration platform, and the Grafana/Prometheus stack for comprehensive monitoring of all system components.

Results achieved

The first phase of the project is now almost complete. The DataScale team has developed and delivered a complete set of technical documentation to the bank, including:

•    Description of the architectural solution and integration bus API.

•    Bus access protocols.

•    Data formats for message exchange.

•    Configuration of message broker queues.

•    Detailed description of operations performed, query parameters, and response structure.

An important achievement is the active assistance of the DataScale team in the bank’s deployment of its own Kubernetes cluster, in which not only the integration bus but also other key services of JSCB UNIVERSAL BANK will operate. This step marks the bank’s transition to a qualitatively new level of IT infrastructure management.

The next stages of the project involve connecting additional systems, both internal (CRM, scoring, banking core) and external (payment gateways, interbank interaction systems). Thanks to the modular architecture and standardised interfaces, each new connection will require minimal effort and time.

Thus, UNIVERSAL BANK has received a ready-made platform for the rapid and effective integration of critical systems into the data bus, which opens up new opportunities for the development of its IT ecosystem.
